Hot to Trot? Here's how you still can

Just a reminder from Friend Bob at the Parks Department that if you're making a last-minute call on whether or not to run the Turkey Trot tomorrow morning, you can no longer sign up online. Registration is $25, plus three canned goods.

Online registration for this year’s 15th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk is closed. In-person registration only and packet pickup continues through 6 p.m. today at Mediacom Ice Park, 635 E. Trafficway. Registration is $25. In-person registration for tomorrow’s run/walk will run 6:15 – 7:15 a.m. at the Springfield Expo Center, 635 St. Louis St. The race begins at 8 a.m.

Participants are asked to bring three or more canned food items today to the Ice Park or tomorrow morning to the Expo Center for Ozarks Food Harvest. In 2008, 5,475 pounds of food were donated. Last year’s event had just over 5,000 participants.

Motorists should be advised that this year’s route will include St. Louis Street, National Avenue, Grand Street, portions of Missouri State University’s campus, Cherry Street, Kimbrough Avenue and East Trafficway. The 2009 course route can be found directly at http://bit.ly/2WdPZn.

Parking near the Expo Center for participants and spectators is available at a number of surface lots, the Jordan Valley Car Park and other downtown lots near the Springfield Public Square. For a downtown parking map guide, visit http://bit.ly/3KU1qz.
