The Set List: Our Memorial is Fun

Most groups have learned not to plan too much for the weekend of Memorial Day... people are more into lounging at the lake than hitting a big event. But there's still plenty of going on on this long weekend, which the Set List is happy to share. And, at some point between brewskis on Monday, take a minute to remember those that have passed so we CAN drive big boats and eat red meat. Okay, your grandfather has left the building.

Friday

Mark Chapman at Cartoons, Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
The two-time GO Music Award winner is onstage in the Big Room tonight.

Wes Jeans, Black Suede, Underground Blues at Nathan P. Murphy's, Cover TBA, 8 p.m.
Big-time blues at the home of the blues in Springfield. Get there early and, if you're reading this now, call ahead to reserve a table (417-863-1909).

Uncle Rico's Time Machine at Patton Alley Pub, Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
These guys are a good band, but we really just love the name. It might be the best thing to, ultimately, come out of Napoleon Dynamite.

Saturday

John Henry and the Engine, Truett and the Traitors, Wes Wingate and Hillary Scott at the Outland, Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
Big time Americana music, and three excellent supporting bands. Buy a copy of John Henry's album and help spread the love.

Springfield Cardinals vs. Tulsa Drillers, $6-$23.50, 6:10 p.m.
It's baseball time! The first-place Cardinals play the Tulsa Drillers tonight.

Big Wilson River, Three Old Friends, Donations only, 8 p.m.
The Front Porch's shows are a ton of fun, and best of all free. Drop a few bucks in the box though to help keep this innovative music venue booking.

Sunday

Greek Night at the Bleu Olive, buffet $23.95, 4 p.m.
These are, apparently, Branson's must-attend events, complete with a Mediterranean buffet, drinks, a DJ and more.

Art Bentley at Springfield Brewing Company, Free, 9 p.m.
This event is as classical as Memorial Day itself. Grab a pie, some wings, and revel in the fact that (unless you're one of the unfortunate ones) there's no worky worky tomorrow.

'Til next week!

Have a safe weekend!
