The Set List has no idea what this week's title means, but it sure is funny.
Obviously, the big event of the weekend is the two game tilt between the St. Louis Cardinals and Springfield Cardinals. And, obviously, most of the tickets are way, way gone. But GO will be there, milling about before tonight's game with the players, trying to get the scoop on this year's team. Look for a special weekend blog post with all the info from the field and the stands.
Now on to the rest of the weekend. Fortunately there are several great events. Read more, after the jump (which is 100 percent Uptown Girls-free!)
Friday
Beautiful Losers at The Outland; $5, 9 p.m.
This is a buh-bye show for one of Springfield's most consistently popular bands of the last several years. Eric and the boys are taking their party-rock to Chicago, where we hope big things await.
Spookie Daly Pride at The Outland Ballroom; Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
Anyone who has seen Spookie's madcap act knows this is a concert you can't miss. And those Boston accents are so cute!
The Adventures of Tom Sawyer at Landers Theatre; $9-$11, 7:30 p.m.
Springfield Little Theatre presents this story, which we'll bet you haven't revisted since junior high. It's high time you re-make Miss Becky Thatcher's acquaintance, wethinks.
Saturday
Ilijah CD Release at The Outland Ballroom w/ Walter Alias, The Oddettes; Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
One of Springfield's best bands, Ilijah, is celebrating its new album with a few close friends, including the ladies of The Oddettes and Walter Alias, which we assume is a pseudonym.
John D. Hale Band at The Snorty Horse; Cover TBA, 9 p.m.
if Snorty Horse owner Steve Greene (whom we're still kinda bitter toward, admittedly) has a house band, it's the John D. Hale Band. They're back at the Horse tonight. Let the ridiculosity ensue.
Cowboy Classic Rodeo at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds; Cover TBA, 8 p.m.
If your into the literal version of knockin' boots, Springfield's best annual rodeo wraps up tonight at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds' indoor arena. Bronc-ridin', barrell-racin' and calf-ropin'... get the authentic shi*kicker experience while you can.
Sunday
Brian Regan at Gillioz Theatre; $37.50, 7 p.m.
Sunday might seem like a weird day for a top-flight comedy show, but with Easter safetly in the rear-view, we're alright with a little bit of naughtiness on the Sabbath. Brian Regan will bring the house down, we just know it.
Shawn and Marcus at Ebbets Field; Free, 10 p.m.
After the Regan set, head on over to Ebbets to send the weekend out right. And by right we mean "with beer" and "free".
'Till Next Week!
