I was the Account Manager at GO Magazine, so I wore several different hats. Most of the time I was “the Sales Guy” which allowed me to meet some of the most well respected business owners, entrepreneurs and managers that Springfield has to offer as well as some kooky characters that made some days lets just say... interesting. Some of the other less glamorous hats were Bill Collector Guy, Master Delivery Man and the highly coveted Ad Production Dude. No matter which hat I was wearing, I loved every moment of it and will miss GO to death.
My eight months at GO Magazine felt too short, I guess the repeated “time flies when you're having fun” term never rang more true than with my time at GO. What I’ll miss most and cherish forever are of course Thursday morning GO staff meetings in which often brought me back to my Sunday afternoon fraternity meetings, always a good time and never a dull moment. A free trip to Hard Rock in Tulsa with fellow staffers and bosses would mark the day of no longer being the reserved new guy—let’s just say I earned my stripes as a new initiate (what happens in Tulsa stays in Tulsa). From the GOnnections to the Hot List Party at Ziggie’s to the most recent Top Singles Mingle at Parlor 88, I will miss the events most but I am excited for most of them to transition into 417 Magazine.
I wanted to end this sendoff with a special “shout out” (I don’t remember using this term since Junior High but for some reason it sounds appropriate to use now) to all of our advertisers who have allowed GO to reach it’s full potential throughout the years. You know who you are and if your reading this you will never know how much you mean to this company and to me (sorry to get so cheesy on you).
It’s been said before, the staff here at Whitaker Publishing is second to none and I am so fortunate to continue my career as the new 417 Account Manager.
Stay classy Springfield and don’t go changin’ on me.
