The Set List: A Decision to Make

This weekend could be considered the calm between the storms; one was last weekend at the GO Music Awards at Rock'n Ribs (where it stormed) and next weekend is Artsfest on Walnut Street (where it always storms... not to jinx it or anything). So this weekend you're allowed to kick back and do some chill things... or yard work, depending on whether you have a wife or not. (Mrs. Set List is not pleased with that last statement.)

But go with chill. You have our permission.

Friday

2009 Missouri State Relay For Life, Plaster Sports Complex, 6 p.m.
This is the college Relay event, which means it's also probably the most fun (sorry Aunt Millie). You can get in at the gate, so assemble an impromptu team, find a theme, and get out there and walk.

Jesus Christ Superstar, Hammons Hall, 8 p.m.
You know, Jesus was a superstar. But we bet he never thought the '70s would look like THAT when he said "Blessed are the Peacemakers". This is a top-notch production though. If you like musicals it's a must-go.

Springfield Cardinals game, Hammons Field, 7:10 p.m.
'Da boys are back in town after a road trip, and should have nice weather for the first time all season. Treat it like opening day and go catch some fireworks (p.s. they're in first place as of this typing).

Saturday

Streetlight Suzie, The Reacharounds at the Outland Ballroom
No word on whether Streetlight Suzie is the one reaching around, but we'll get back to you. We kid. Please don't pummel us, Mr. Rock Dudes.

Springfield WolfPack season opener at Mediacom Ice Park, 7:05 p.m.
Wow. These guys have been around for three seasons. Go see some touchdowns on the turf tonight. Tricky tongetwisters? Touché.

The Spacetones, Acumen, Sincerely Yours, Agent Traxxxident at the High Life, 9 p.m.
Three of the five finalists for the 2009 GMA in hip-hop are onstage under one roof, including winner The Spacetones.

Sunday

Arf-Fest, Jefferson Avenue Footbridge Pavillion, 6 p.m.
This is ArtsFest for your dog, with contests, refreshments and stuff to buy.

Brunch with Beethoven, Ramada Oasis and Convention Center, 11 a.m.
The Symphony wants you to join them for a massive, wonderful meal featuring the talents of their musicians AND local chefs.

Art Bently at Springfield Brewing Company, 9 p.m.
The longtime home of Sunday Funday, you'll get wings and a pitcher (or a pizza and a pitcher) for just $10. Go forth and be tipsy.

'Til next week!
