Black Rebel Motorcycle Club at Remmington's Downtown highlights October's live music schedule.
There’s not a Dylan on the schedule (yet), but the Ozarks has its fair share of good music lined up between now and the holidays.

September 28: Shooter Jennings
The Snorty Horse Saloon
Advance tickets: $15

shooterjennings.com
Shooter Jennings comes to town this Friday with a promise from Snorty Horse owner Steve Greene: It’s going to be one hell of a party. The rough-and-rowdy (in a good way, not a Roadhouse way) Snorty Horse throws plenty of those, but only occasionally with the son of country legend Waylon Jennings as emcee. Not only are Shooter and his father famous, his baby mama is, too. (Shooter and girlfriend Drea de Matteo are expecting a child.)

October 7: Diane Schuur
Juanita K. Hammons Hall, 7:30 p.m.
Advance tickets: $22, $33

dianeschuur.com
Let’s get cultured for a moment. Jazz is, perhaps, the most civilized of American music forms (unless you count the barbershop quartet—how do those guys do it?!). Diane Schuur, she of the three-octave vocal range, puts on a display during Missouri State University’s Jazz showcase. Wethinks three octaves might be enough to burst a beer bottle, like those commercials on television. So, uh, don’t drink and drive.

October 17:
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
Remmington’s Downtown, 7 p.m.

Advance tickets $15
blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com
The garage rockers from California are taking a nationwide tour. With tons of press lately, including a spot on Rolling Stone’s “College Top 10” list back in May, BRMC is on a roll. The band’s website is worth a look—it’s a community-type setup, listing the fans currently online with an E-vite–style calendar. (So far no one from Springfield says they’re attending. Let’s change that.)

October 31: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars
The Outland, 9 p.m.
$5

myspace.com/springifeldoutland
It wouldn’t be a satisfying concert roundup without one of The Outland’s zany, pitch-perfect tribute shows. On Halloween night, the bar that brings you Nirvanathon will present the entire David Bowie album—which is almost as long as its name—featuring a ton of Springfield music scene regulars, including Jason Wilson of The Fall of Everett McGill, Donnie Kraft of Filthy Thirds, Jason Lofton of The Nova Heat, Drew Summers of the Disappointments, and more.

November 2–December 8:
Mannheim Steamroller
The Grand Palace

Advance tickets $50.25
mannheimsteamroller.com
We’ll admit, as members of that weird little group shoved firmly between generations X and Y, we don’t get Mannheim Steamroller. Is it a guy? Is it a steamroller? Is it an infomercial? We just don’t get it. But our moms sure do! We guess that’s why they play Branson for a month every holiday season. Tickets aren’t cheap, but if you consider it an early (read: only) Christmas present for your parents, it’s kind of like they pay for themselves. Thanks, Mannheim Steamroller. Whatever you are.

November 6: The Earps
Nathan P. Murphy’s
Ticket price TBA

theearpsrock.com
Details are few on this show at Murphy’s, but the self-proclaimed “cow punk” band sounds like a rockin’ change of pace for downtown in Early November. The website newsfeed hasn’t been updated in a year, but who cares?

November 12: Chevelle
Remmington’s Downtown
Advance tickets: $22.50

chevelleinc.com
Chevelle’s gig in Springfield comes only two stops from the end of a two-month tour, so we’re thinking they’ll have the set pretty well nailed by then. The threesome’s latest album, Vena Sara, was recorded at The Palms in Las Vegas, according to the band’s website. So much for a serene recording process.
