Hypes and Gripes

Highs, lows, ups, downs, ins and outs of the last two weeks.

Gripes to the morons who stole our company’s trailer, used to haul our display and other stuff to trade shows and the like, for the second time in three years. We’re not sure why people do this. Is there a massive black market for empty trailers? Or do you need a trailer to haul around your massive piles of pettiness and stupidity? Thought so.

Hypes to local politicians who, with a few exceptions, have been keeping their election rhetoric to a dull roar. Or maybe they’re just being drowned out by the cacophony of McBama BiPalin and those insidious, cheap Hulshof-Nixon Powerpoints.

Gripes to the Springfield Police patrol officer who, on a recent Saturday night, had a (presumably) drunk ass turn the wrong way down Jefferson Avenue right in front of them, but either missed the spectacle or did nothing (the car quickly reversed direction and sped on its way). We felt no safer on Springfield streets that night.

• Here’s a high-five for the Springfield Police, submitted by an anonymous reader: “I actually wanna send out a Hype to Springfield Police for arresting a guy who physically assaulted a mentally handicapped adult on the square last Saturday. I was impressed with how prompt they were to the situation for a change.”
