Hypes and Gripes
• Hypes to workers in Greene County Clerk Richard Struckhoff’s office, who performed their duties with speed and a smile during the run-up to the craziest election we’ll probably ever see. Thank you for your help. Are you giving the DMV folks lessons any time soon?
• Hypes to everyone who voted in the November 4 elections. The only thing that’s crystal clear about this election cycle is that, for the first time in a long time, young people give a rat’s ass. And we don’t think it’s a passing trend. Next place to prove your mettle: February and April’s municipal ballots, which will be every bit as important to your every day life as who won the White House.
• Hypes to KY3 for their recent report on just how hard it really is to get those $199 tickets to Phoenix on Allegiant Air out of Springfield (after taxes, in fact, it’s impossible). It was hardly earth-shaking, but it was a good lesson in why you should read all the fine print and understand the pre-checked check boxes on web forms.
• Gripes to imbeciles who just can’t go to a club without a weapon. Three recent episodes of violence at south side clubs underscore the problem. If you still think it’s necessary to fire automatic weapons, can you at least all go to the same empty space (we suggest the abandoned Cowboys 2000 spot on Kearney), lock the doors, and leave the rest of us out of it?
