Hypes and Gripes
Things that have made us glad and made us sad in Springfield lately.
In a world where H1N1 is as scary as Ebola (at least in perception), Hypes to businesses that provide free hand sanitizer for customers, specifically Qdoba. We love our hands covered in sour cream, not germs.
Gripes to people who think certain intersections have dual left-turn lanes when they, in fact, do not. Three times recently at the intersection of Bedford and Sunshine alone (near Sam’s) we’ve almost been sideswiped by an inattentive asshat. THE STRAIGHT LANE GOES STRAIGHT, AND STRAIGHT ONLY! Grr.
Hypes to Pickleman’s for innovatively, satisfying sandwich and pizza cravings in Springfield. The staff is friendly, they deliver and are open late, and their marketing at charity events has been tireless and the “hot sandwiches” even won over one staffer’ sandwich-discerning grandmother. Very well done.
We love Springfield-Branson National Airport, but we wish there was a way to get back something you left on a plane. Members of a recent school trip left a cell phone and a book on a late-night Delta flight, but 30 minutes later there was no one around to help get them back, and phone calls proved fruitless. Gripes for making a simple brain-fart frustrating and, ultimately, expensive.

Just an FYI: H1N1 has killed far more than ebola does in a given year. Influenza killed 100 MILLION people in the 1918 outbreak.
