Death Star Wings

Grad School, 434 S. Jefferson Ave., 417-866-8163
Six for $6.50, 12 for $11
At a Grad-student price, these normal fried wings are slowly roasted in habañeros for six hours, until not even The Force can save your mouth. (Star Wars nerds, you are welcome.)

Kai Confidential Roll

Kai, 306 S. Campbell Ave., 417-832-0077
$11
Don’t let the dish fool you—we freaked out a little too. Who would think of putting crab and jalapeño together? Kai, that’s who. The spicy crab roll, topped with spicy tuna and jalapeño, may sound a little weird, but we are “confident” you will like it.

Fried Jalapeños

Buckingham’s BBQ (Three locations in Springfield)
$3.99 for a basket
Buckingham’s has combined two great things: beer and spice. Basically they take one jalapeño, roll it around in beer batter and fry it. No word yet on if the beer for the batter is domestic or import.

Chicken Red Curry Pasta

Tasia, 4728 S. Campbell Ave., 417-890-6789
Dinner $8.95 Lunch $6.95
Packed full of chicken, vegetables, and pasta, the chili paste is all that adds spice to this dish. For all you wannabe fire-eaters, this isn’t the meal for you, but it’s a great dish.

Habañero salsa

Prima’s Mexican Grill, 2101 W. Chesterfield Blvd., 417-823-7180
Free!!! Chips and salsa are free with purchase of meal
There are four levels of free-salsa hotness to choose from at Prima’s— just be sure to ask your waiter, because the super-hot variety isn’t brought out automatically. Did we mention it’s free?

Mongolian Chicken

ChopSticks, 1128 S. Glenstone Ave., 417-863-0833
Large—$4.99 Small—$3.99
This dish with chicken, onions, bamboo, cabbage and chili paste was awarded two-swords-up by Genghis Khan during the famous-but-almost-forgotten Mongolian Chicken Cook-Off.

I agree whole heartidly with the Death Star Wings, they are amazingly hot but at the same time have a great taste. If you aren't in the mood for super hot they have other great flavors to choose as well. Everyone should stop in and see the guys at grad school every entree is priced under 9 dollars and everything is fantastic.
