Hypes and Gripes
Hypes to the UDA and downtown businesses for resurrecting the Dinner and a Movie program, where if you spend a certain amount at a downtown restaurant you can buy discounted movie tickets to the Moxie or College Station right from your table.
Gripes to the breathless, wall-to-wall reporting of Sarah Palin’s visit to Springfield and Branson. Bad enough that she stonewalled the media and ridiculed them in her speech, this was really nothing more than a promotional book tour covered like a political campaign stop (which it was, if the Rogueish ex-veep candidate is running for Mayor of Palinville). Of course she’s a person of interest, but so was Bob Dylan and no one live-Tweeted his concert.
Hypes to Center City for growing up before our eyes over the last four-plus years. College Station and Wilhoit Plaza actually happened, C-Street developed some much-needed momentum, the music scene shrunk and struggled (but certainly survived), and parking has devolved from a migraine to a mere headache. We can’t wait to see what happens over the next half-decade.
Hypes to Silver Dollar City for, really and truly, being a high-quality visitor experience. Yes, tickets are ‘spensive, but inside the park is a seamless mix of fun, friendliness and—we’ll say it—value per dollar if you stay for a few hours.
