An Extreme Experience

In June, we learned that builder Sam Clifton of Millstone Homes had been chosen to construct an Extreme Makeover: Home Edition project somewhere in Greene County. As quickly as the news traveled, Sam and his tireless wife, Michelle, moved faster, assembling a mammoth team of builders and volunteers (yes, the builder puts all that together). By late July, more than 1,000 residents had donated thousands upon thousands hours (and dollars) and the Hampton family of Ash Grove—who, in the end, this was all about—had a new home. This is our congratulations.

Did You Know?
Ty was, by most accounts, a cool fellow. Most people know he was only around for a few of the days, filming just the “big” scenes. And “Ty’s special project?” You might get farther asking Drury University architecture students about the chicken coop. Indeed, there are many designers at work on-site who are never seen on the show.
Everything takes four hours longer than you think it will on the set of the show. Ergo, 417 Magazine was supposed to throw a wrap party the night of Move That Bus. But once our planners saw how long everything took we realized the party that was supposed to start at 8 probably wouldn’t have started until midnight. This is Springfield, not L.A., so we had to be realistic and decided to cancel the party.
