Sexy: Back in Style

Fashion and hot people? GO has them all, coming this fall

It’s the end of summer, which in the Whitaker Publishing offices means it’s time to pack away the Tommy Bahama shirts and sandals, and break out the button-ups and shiny shoes. We’re looking good, and we want to prove it to you, our readers.
Ergo, we’re pleased to announce two October events, sure to bring out the fashion mogul in all of us. Here’s what you need to know between now and November:

Project Runway, October 24

We’re partnering with Missouri State University’s fashion and interior design department to feature three of our readers’ fashion designs on the runway on October 24.

Readers are asked to submit sketches for one original outfit. The theme, as decided by Missouri State: “Football Couture.” (We’re not sure what that is, but you’re the designer, after all.) We will choose the three best sketches; the designers will then have several weeks to make their garments. As they create, we’ll document the process on our blog at springfieldgo.com. The three finalists—and their creations—will be featured in the October 10 issue of GO Magazine. On October 24, the designs will be modeled and juried by a panel of experts at the MSU fashion department’s Project Runway show. One will be chosen as the GO Magazine Fashion Designer of the Year.

Again, a quick breakdown of dates you need to know:

• Friday, September 7: Sketches due at our offices, 2111 S. Eastgate Ave.

• Friday, September 14: Finalists announced at springfieldgo.com.

• September 17–28: GO photographers and writers document finalists’ creative process.

• Monday, October 1: Garments due.

• Wednesday, October 24: Project Runway jury show at Missouri State University; winner named.

Sexy and Single, October 31

For a second year, we’ll be featuring Springfield’s hottest, most interesting and most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes in our Sexy & Single issue. How do we find them? Through you, of course.

You can begin sending us your Sexy and Single nominations now. E-mail gosexyandsingle@gmail.com, explaining why your nominee is interesting, hot, funny and worthy of our sexiest honor. Please attach a high-quality photo of your nominee. Nominees may be subject to a brief, in-person interview. Please do not nominate anyone who is currently dating somebody. Or who is married... heavens.

All nominations are due by Friday, September 21.

On October 31 we’ll be throwing a party recognizing our Sexy Singles and (hopefully) getting them all hooked up—it happened last year, believe you us. Check out springfieldgo.com for more details.
