Hypes and Gripes

Strange pizza pricing, gas-guzzling panhandlers and more stuff we like (or don't).

Gripes to Domino’s Pizza for charging $16 for a large, hand-tossed Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza when you can get a pizza, wings, soda and another side item for $21 as part of a special. Sometimes you just want a pizza, but apparently you have to also want to get bent over. It’s Cheezie’s for us.

Hypes to Jason Wert for his successful, if too short, seven months of live-blogging City Council. He’s giving up that specific (voluntary) gig to pursue more family-type activities, for which we can’t blame him.

Hypes to our judges and all the bands who spent a day at Rock’n Ribs (mostly for free) at the GO Music Awards. And, of course, Hypes to all the fans who came out to support local music and, in the process, some fine local charities.

Gripes to Bernard, the guy who panhandles downtown. One GO staffer has actually witnessed Bernard parking a truck downtown. Sir, we’ve no doubt you can use the money, but if we want to buy gas we’ll put it on our own tanks, thanks.

Hypes to Big Whiskeys, the MSU Student Union, Kaldi's Coffeehouse and the MudHouse, which have been identified by circulation director Dylan Whitaker as our four most prolific GO drop points. We literally can't keep them on the racks at MudHouse or Plaster Student Union. Thanks for distributing!
